Chief minister Punjab awards commendatory certificates to medical staff

Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has awarded commendatory certificates to 50 doctors, nurses, paramedics and lab technicians of Lahore General Hospital in recognition of great services they rendered during struggle against recent epidemic of dengue.
Professor Dr Tariq Sallahuddin, Principal PGMI and LGH and MS Dr Zafar Ikram while felicitating the LGH staff stressed upon them to continue the services to the ailing humanity with same spirit and zeal so that patients could be treated with enhanced standard of working.
It may be mentioned that during the epidemic a number of 230702 suspected dengue patients came to LGH, which was the biggest chunk of such patients at any hospital in the city. 255684 patients were tested for CBC and 6258 patients went back to their homes after recovery. Presently only one dengue patient is under treatment at LGH.
The hospital administration took the initiatives like establishment of High Dependency Units, fixing a full block for dengue patients, cancellation of weekly offs of staff and initiation of health education programme at LGH. One of the brilliant student nurses named Asma Kanwal also lost her life while serving the dengue patients.
