The Nato attack on Pak Army Checkpost in Mohmand Agency was intentional and unprovoked, Director General Military Operations, Major General Ishfaq Nadeem told the media on Tuesday. In a press briefing to senior media persons at the GHQ, DG MO shared the findings of investigation carried out by Pak Army into the killing of 24 soldiers.
He informed the media persons that the Nato forces were well-aware of the existence of Pakistani Army Checkpost as a map reference of these checkposts had already been shared with them. He said all the strategies and agreements formulated for better co-ordination of military operations in border areas were set aside, though it was a prerequisite of the co-ordination strategies that in case of any military offensive in border areas information must be shared with their allies.
The DG MO said the Nato officials misinterpreted the whole story in their first response to the Pak Army on the gory incident. "The Nato did not provide correct information even after the attack on the Pakistani Checkpost," he said. Answering a question, the DG MO said the Pak Army checkpost was beyond any doubt not a hideout of Taliban. He further said that the Pakistani officials who visited the checkpost were also targeted, but luckily they remained unhurt.
