Three people were found dead on Saturday after a sail boat with around 60 migrants on board capsized near the port of Brindisi off the coast of south-east Italy, ANSA news agency reported citing rescuers. The report said "around a dozen bodies" had been spotted but some survivors were plucked out of the water and others managed to reach the shoreline.
La Repubblica daily's website said the migrants were from Pakistan and the boat had sailed from Turkey. It said a storm in the area had pushed their boat onto some rocks and emergency services had been alerted by a local resident.
