Growing incidents of car-lifting in city has put security agencies on high alert as emergency meeting was called to sketch out plan to burst gangs involved in this business. According to sources, Additional Inspector General of Sindh police, who had convened an emergency meeting to discuss the said issue, directed the concerned police officials to chalk-out a comprehensive strategy to deal with the car-lifting gangs with iron hand.
They said that some 12 vehicles and over 20 bikes are being snatched, daily, which are not only creating hurdles for law enforcement agencies to maintain peace in the city, but also putting a question mark on the performance of LEAs. They said these snatched vehicles are used in robberies, terrorist activities and other illicit businesses besides being sold in Balochistan. Keeping all these facts in view, AIG Sindh Ghulam Shabbir Sheikh convened a meeting at CPO to draft a comprehensive strategy to curb the gangs operating in the metropolis.
The participants suggested increasing the number of check-posts at Sindh-Balochistan border as most of the snatched luxury vehicles are sold in Balochistan. Sources said the issue to build a liaison between Sindh and Balochistan police for stern vigilance was also discussed in the meeting.
Sources said the meeting was attended by the officials of ACLC and SPs, DSPs and SHOs of Gulshan Iqbal, Mobina Town, Korangi Industrial Area, Ferozabad, Preddy, Aziz Bhatti, North Nazimabad, Gizri, Bahadurabad, Sharea Faisal, Sharea Noor Jahan, Tehmoria, Nazimabad, Saachal, Soldier Bazaar, Eidgah, Baghdadi and Kharadar.
