Sindh Home Minster Manzoor Hussain Wasan has suspended Station House Officer (SHO) of Awami Colony police station after a bank heist of Rs 19.4 million in his jurisdiction on November 24. Wassan was addressing a press conference at Central Police Office (CPO) on Friday after presiding over a meeting with police officials.
"During the last two days, the city witnessed three bank robberies which is a matter of great concern for us," said Wassan. He said that SHOs would be held responsible and would also face suspension if they fail to control crimes in their respective jurisdiction. "I have issued directions in this regard," he added.
He said that out of 60 robberies during past 11 months only 8 cases were detected which was not a major achievement by the police. All the 300 private security firms have been asked to get verified the antecedents of all their personnel posted for the security of various institutions, particularly, banks.
He said that provincial home department is working to make a new policy regarding the private security companies, they would be classified in A, B and C categories for their eligibility to qualify for the security of b banks, he said.
In a question regarding involvement of Rangers and police in various crimes, Wassan said that the investigations were underway in this regard. About the security for Muharramul Harram, he said that all measures had been taken for the security of the rallies and gatherings in this regard.
