Growers on Friday said if the government failed to resolve the issue of sugarcane prices forthwith then they would stage a sit-in outside the Parliament House. A meeting of sugarcane growers held under the chairmanship of Advocate Israrullah, here on Friday.
Some growers including Abdur Rehman Khan, Mohammad Alam Khan, Hafiz Hashmat Khan, Arbab Akbar Hayat Khan, Arbab Inayatullah, Arbab Mohammad Nazir, Mohammad Amin Khan, Arshad Mehmood Khan, Arbab Mohamamd Jamil, Amin Jan and others also attended the meeting.
The meeting said that the exploitation of growers and millers would not be tolerated. It welcomed the resolution adopted by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Legislative Assembly against the ban on export of gur to Afghanistan and demanded of the government to fully implement the resolution. The government should also resolve issue of sugarcane prices forthwith, the meeting demanded. The meting thoroughly reviewed the government's move against the ban on export of gur and bringing under consideration demand of the growers for increasing the prices. The growers unanimously decided that they were ready to hold negotiation with the government for amicable resolution of the problem.
