Senate Functional Committee on Human Rights has directed the police to take strict action against those people who are involved in the murder of three Hindu doctors in district Shikarpur Sindh. The committee met under the chairmanship of Senator Afrasiab Khattak here in Parliament House on Friday and discussed the issues which were on the agenda.
The committee said the minorities have the equal rights like other citizens and they always play vital role for the country. The committee said the state is responsible for the protection of minorities life and their business. The committee took serious notice on the increasing trend of police torture against common people as being reported in the media especially in the Punjab.
The committee said that police has no legal right to torture accused in the police station. Senator Pervaiz Rashid said that 90 percent criminal were arrested through mobile phone record in last years and police should focus on their performance. Senator S M Zafar said police is the face of the State. Senators Mian Raza Rabbani, Suriya Amiruddin, Sardar Ali Khan, Farhat Abbas, Muhammad Azam Khan Swati and Senator S M Zafar attended the meeting.
