The Debating Society of the Government College University has won the All Pakistan Parliamentary Debates 2011 hosted by the Kinnaird College Lahore. As many as 24 prestigious educational institutions from all over the Pakistan participated in the tournament.
The GC University team comprising Ali Zafar, Zinnia Mansoor and Ahsan Raza beat the Lahore School of Economics in the final while speaking on the topic "Pakistan's political landscape is ready for change". The team GCU supported the motion and effective proved that the socio-economic situation in the country has led the nation to rise for a meaningful political change.
GCU Debating Society President Ali Zafar was declared the best speaker of the tournament. GCU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Muhammad Khaleeq-ur-Rahman commended the valuable efforts of the GCU Debating Society in highlighting the issues national significance at prestigious fora of public speaking. He congratulated the GCU team who has won the Kinnaird College Trophy for the umpteenth times.
While GC University Lahore Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Muhammad Khaleeq-ur-Rahman on Wednesday inaugurated the office for the university's Non-Gazetted Staff Association (NGSA). Dean Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences Professor Dr Khalid Pervaiz, Physics Department Chairperson Professor Dr Hassan Amir Shah, Registrar Anjum Nisar and NGSA President Khaliq Hussain were also present. Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Muhammad Khaleeq-ur-Rahman said that all employees of the university are equal and united, and together they would put the university on a path leading to national acclaim.
