Imran Farooq murder case: no arrests made, says UK Home Secretary

The visiting UK Home Secretary Theresa May said on Thursday that no arrests have been made in connection with Dr Imran Farooq murder case. Earlier, Interior Minister Rehman Malik had also denied that any arrests had been made in the case. The British home secretary met with Malik on Thursday to discuss bilateral issues.
Later, talking to media, she denied the claim made by London Police Commissioner Bernard Morgan that two people in Pakistan were arrested in connection with the murder of MQM leader Imran Farooq. May said that an investigation in the case is still under way.
The Police Commissioner had been quoted by a London-based newspaper as saying that the killers would not be allowed to roam freely on the streets of London. He had also said that London Police was working with Pakistan in the case. Dr Farooq was murdered on September 16, 2010 in London. May said her county shared interest with Pakistan in fighting against terrorism. Recognising the sacrifices made by Pakistan, she said that Pakistan was a frontline state and had made tremendous sacrifices for a stable region.
