Girls school blown up in Khyber Agency
PESHAWAR: Another girls' school was severely damaged in the explosion of material planted in a building in tehsil Jamrud, Khyber Agency, political officials said on Sunday.
The incident occurred in the wee hours in Ghundai area of the tribal agency. The school was of secondary level. Unknown militants had planted explosive material in the school that exploded with a bang resulting in severe damage to the building. However, no human casualty in the incident was reported.
With the incident, the number of targeted schools by militants during the last three years in Khyber Agency has reached to 53. The militants are targeting infrastructure, particular educational institutions in both the tribal and settled areas of Fata and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and hundreds of schools have been damaged. Due to the persistent attacks, a large number of schools and colleges have closed down.
