'Provision of medical facilities top priority'

Punjab Chief Minister, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif presided over a high-level meeting here Monday which reviewed the progress of ongoing projects of health department. Addressing the meeting, Shahbaz said that provision of best medical facilities to the masses is the top priority of the government and all out initiatives are being taken for this purpose.
He said that modern treatment facilities are being provided to the people of far-flung and backward areas at their doorsteps through mobile health units. He directed to constitute an independent and autonomous committee for the purchase of equipment for hospitals and Health Department should have no role in this regard and a plan should be evolved for this purpose and submitted at the earliest.
He also directed to resolve the problem of MRI machine in Children's Hospital within a couple of days. The CM appreciated the role of all institutions including health department during dengue eradication campaign and those showed best performance during this campaign will be fully encouraged.
