Indecent language against Zardari, Altaf Hussain: Sindh Assembly passes resolution without naming Mirza

The Sindh Assembly on Friday unanimously passed a resolution, tabled by Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) demanding "severe" action against those who used provocative language against President Asif Ali Zardari and Altaf Hussain. The House, which met here with Deputy Speaker Shehla Raza in the chair, held some two-hour long discussion to reach agreement on the resolution.
According to sources close to PPP provincial legislators, the resolution targeted former home minister Zulfiqar Mirza, whom the MQM wanted to punish through the House for his "indecent" remarks against the party chief Altaf Hussain. But, Nadir Magsi and some other stalwarts forced the party leadership to immediately held talks with the MQM to change the script of the resolution.
Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah did not attend the session, whereas a number of PPP legislators were also seen uninterested in attending the assembly session. The House also passed a resolution, which was presented by Sindh Law Minister Ayaz Soomro to offer condolence on the demise of former PPP leader Nusrat Bhutto.
The resolution tabled by MQM says: "This House strongly condemns such people who have levelled false, frivolous and baseless allegations and used indecent, unethical and provocative language against our beloved leaders Asif Ali Zardari, President of Pakistan and co-chairman of PPP and Altaf Hussain, founder leader of MQM, and demand severe action. We also repose full confidence in the leadership of Asif Ali Zardari and Altaf Hussain."
The House also paid tributes to Begum Nusrat Bhutto for her services to the restoration of democracy, nation's uplift and empowerment of the downtrodden people of the country. Earlier, the House offered fateha for Nusrat Bhutto and other departed souls. The provincial legislators also condemned the killing of Hindu doctors in Shikarpur.
The question and answer session on the matters of Sindh Auqaf and Tourism Departments could not be held due to delayed start of the assembly session. The Deputy Speaker also announced names of legislators who will decide the nomination of chairmen for the session, which included Dr Sikandar, Shama Metani, Nuzhat Pathan, and Sabra Begum. The House will again meet on Monday at 10 am.
