Hard red winter wheat basis bids were steady on Thursday in mostly routine dealings. Railcars were plentiful, even as wheat movement out of the country picks up. Declining temperatures through the Plains should help push new-crop wheat into dormancy.
Protein premiums for railcar wheat to and through Kansas City fell 5 cents a bushel for 12.00 percent protein wheat, 12.20-pro; and 12.40-pro wheat supplies, and were steady otherwise. Weekly export sales of US wheat totalled 317,100 tonnes for the 2011/12 marketing year, up 6 percent from the previous week, but down 5 percent from the prior four-week average.
