Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Senator Babar Ghauri, while voicing serious concerns over toting gun-supports of Dr Zulfiqar Mirza has asked whether the former Sindh home minister still enjoyed government's support. He was speaking to journalist outside Parliament House.
He added: "During a meeting with Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on Wednesday we raised a question about the capacity in which Sharjeel Memon, the provincial minister, was accompanying Dr Zulfiqar Mirza - the man who is levelling serious accusations against MQM." However, he said Prime Minister Gilani, in his response, assured the MQM that a necessary action would be taken in this regard.
He said the Supreme Court had prohibited public display of fire arms, but on Tuesday night weapons were exhibited with impunity during a big public meeting. He regretted that no action was taken by police or Rangers against those violating the law. The MQM leader said that following a telephonic conversation between President Zardari and Altaf Hussain it was hoped that the government would take a suitable action in this regard.
