The Karachi Port handled 210,550 tonnes of cargo comprising 164,695 tonnes of import cargo and 45,855 tonnes of export cargo including 4,182 loaded & empty containers during last 48 hours ended at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 164,695 tonnes comprised of 70,329 tonnes of containerised cargo; 35 tonne of general cargo; 17,902 tonnes of bulk cargo: 17,862 tonnes of DAP; 40 tonnes of rock phosphate and 76,429 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 45,855 tonnes comprised of 26,886 tonnes of containerised cargo; 15 tonnes of general cargo; 2,454 tonnes of cement and 16,500 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. Ten ships namely OEL Trust, YM Fuzhou, YM Colombo, APL Sokhna, Callao Bridge, Emirates Kanako, Genmar Compatriot, MT Lahore, Anjasmore and Lilac carrying six container ships, three oil tankers and one chemicals carrier respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Seven vessels viz Hyundai Discovery, Al-Mirqab, Callao Bridge, APL Ruby, MOL Bravery, MT Lahore and Formosaproduct Alpine carrying five container ships and two oil tankers respectively are currently at the berths. One container ship namely Hyundai Discovery expected to sail on Monday, while another container ship namely MOL Bravery is expected to sail on Tuesday.
Four vessels viz Hanjin Durban, Glen Canyon Bridge, Oslo Trader and Chemroad Fuji carrying three container ships and one palm oil tanker respectively due to arrive on Monday, while another container vessel viz APL Coral is due to arrive on Tuesday.
A total number of nine vessels CV Maersk Utha, CV Izumo, MV Alexi-1, MV Safina-II, MT Golden Ambrosia, MT Bunga Alamanda, MT Al-Salam-II, MT Pertiwi and MV Kiran Africa are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, rice, chemicals, palm oil, diesel oil, phosphoric acid and sunflower seeds respectively during last 24 hours.
Five ships namely Grace, MTM Hong Kong, Fair Spirit, Siva Coral and Iron Kalypso with palm oil, furnace oil, LPG and sunflower seeds respectively are currently at the outer anchorage. A total number of three vessels viz CV Maersk Utha, MT Fair Spirit and MT Siva Coral carrying containers, furnace oil and LPG respectively are expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Monday. Two container ships namely CV Deira and CV Maersk Kalamata are due to arrive on Tuesday. As many as two vessels viz CV ACX Marguerite and CV OOCL San Francisco with containers are also due to arrive at Port Qasim.
