Dozens of teachers boycotted the classes to protest transfer of their colleagues and behaviour of the district co-ordination officer on Saturday. During the protest, they told the media that DCO Azmat Mehmood and the monitoring officer had visited Government High School No 1 on September 22 at 8:18am where the total strength of teachers was 120.
The DCO took into custody the attendance register and did not allow teachers to mark attendance whereas the school opened at 8:15 am, they added. The DCO transferred four teachers and a clerk to far-off areas of the district immediately. The senior staff association, the Headmasters Association and the Punjab SES Association also participated in the protest and announced that if transfers were not withheld, teachers of the district would continue their protest and boycott classes.
