The incidents of graves profanation have shocked the already depressed Karachiities as two more persons were caught within the limit of Gulshan-e-Maymar police station over the charges of lifting bodies from graves for black magic. Police claimed to have arrested two brothers, who were allegedly involved in lifting bodies from graves for black magic.
They said police took the action on the complaint that some 30 graves were found opened and the bodies, mostly of children, were missing from Ghulam Mohammad Jhokio graveyard, located near Super Highway. The issue came to light when Haji Mohammad, a watchman of the nearest government school, visited his mother's grave to offer Fateha on the first day of Eidul Azha.
Later, the residents gathered at the place and staged a protest demonstration against the incident. The protesters held the graveyard's administration responsible for the immoral act and demanded strict action against the responsible. Following the complaint of Haji Muhammad, police initiated an investigation and arrested two Hindu brothers Chaitan, 42 and Sachin, 35 over the charge of stealing bodies from graves.
Police said the accused used to sell the body parts exhumed from graves to black magicians. They said the accused persons had also been doing black magic for the last eight years. Police said raids were being conducted to nab more culprits involved in this illicit activity.
Similarly, over 35 bodies, majority of them buried recently, have reportedly gone missing from another graveyard in Karachi. This was the second such incident during last 48 hours. The incident was reported at Pir Shah Bukhari graveyard near old Sabzi Mandi in PIB Colony. It was reported by the area people who had found several graves dup up. However, District East SSP Javed Odho denied the incident saying that the graves were damaged due to water seepage from nearby drainage and rain.
