MPA Syed Abdul Qadir Gilani on Wednesday said that legislation on Seraiki province by Punjab and National Assemblies would be enacted in few months. He expressed these views in Eid Millan party organised by member Federal Council of Pakistan People's Party, Malik Shehr Ali Bucha, in which local party leaders, lawmakers and a large gathering of party workers participated.
He said Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani had vowed to table a resolution in the Punjab Assembly. He said currently all political parties except "Takhat Lahore" had assured them of their support to pass the resolution. He said now the Seraiki province has become a main problem for Punjab government and it will have to solve the issue.
Abdul Qadir said the government could not be toppled through rallies and elections would be held according to the prescribed schedule. He said undemocratic attitude of the PML-N was aimed at hampering the democratic process in the country. Talking about wide-scale development schemes, he said the Prime Minister had a vision to see Multan as one of the most developed cities. He said the PPP government under its visionary leadership had been executing development projects worth Rs 4 billion in South Punjab. "It is an unsurpassable record of achievement in development sectors for the last 60 years across the region", he added.
MPA Mehr Irshad Syal, on the occasion, paid tributes to the Prime Minister and his son's efforts for creating Seraiki province in order to ensure rights of people. He further said the province was, in fact, a voice of people, which can't be suppressed at any level.
