Tribal Elders hailing from Khyber Agency have called for intensifying ongoing security forces' operation against criminal gangs in the agency to bring their logical end. Addressing at a news conference here at Peshawar Press Club (PPC), Khan Amir, Captain Ansarul Islam along with other members, said that the people are compelled to take refugee in makeshift relief camps for the last several years.
He said that the law enforcement agencies have launched its operation under different motto to dismantle criminal network in the agency, but the militants' activities are still going on there. He added the government installations also are not protected in the prevailing situation in the area.
Khan Amir observed that the business and trade activities have adversely been shattered in ongoing violent situation, whereas the people are facing enormous difficulties in the absence of health and education facilities. More than 1,600 innocent tribal people have been killed in clashes between different criminal groups, whereas hundreds of people fled from the agency in prevailing turbulent situation, he informed. He said the peace jirga has also been targeted by the criminals. Keeping in view the miseries of tribal people, he demanded for intensifying security forces' operation in the Khyber Agency. The government installations and employees should be provided with full protection, he demanded.
