Turkey and Pakistan will always be there for each other and have always come to each others' assistance in times of need. This was said by Turkish Consul General Murat Mustafa Onart at a reception hosted at his residence to celebrate the 88th National Day of the Republic of Turkey.
Onart who arrived in Karachi two months ago said he was overwhelmed by the love and affection he had received by the Pakistani people and seen for himself the very close and brotherly ties that exist, as every Pakistani that he had met had gone out of his way to be hospitable and welcoming.
The Turkish envoy said that Turkey would never forget the overwhelming support that the Pakistani people had extended to the Turkish people during its war of liberation. The proceedings at the reception began by students of the Pak-Turk International School singing the national anthems of Pakistan and Turkey. The students also handed over Rs 50,695, that they had donated from their own pocket for the victims of earthquake in Turkey. The Pak-Turk International School has 18 branches in Pakistan and 50 percent of their budget is borne by Turkey.
The chief guest on the occasion Sindh Assembly Speaker Nisar Khuhro said Turkey and Pakistan were joined by ties of brotherhood and friendship which had stood the test of time and become stronger with each passing year. Sindh Home Minister Manzoor Wasan, Minister for Rehabilitation and Disaster Management, Haji Muzaffar Ali Shujra, Minister for social welfare's Begum Nargis N.D.Khan, Special Assistant to CM Waqas Malik were also present at the reception besides members of the diplomatic corps and prominent artists, businessmen and citizens of the city.-PR
