The people leaving for their hometowns are perturbed over increasing fares of inter-cities transport in wake of upcoming Eidul Azha. Huge rush is being observed in the vehicles while people are compelled to pay double the routine fares to celebrate Eidul Azha with their near and dear ones," said Muhammad Ramazan, who was waiting for Bus to proceed to Dera Ghazi Khan at Pirwadahi Bus Stand.
Transporters keep fares high during Eid and other special occasions. They also cram passengers inside and on top of their vehicles. This situation is resulting into exchange of hot words between transporters and commuters as travellers are not ready to accept fare increase by the transporters at their own.
These scenes can be seen at Pirwadhai, Faizabad and Karachi company bus stands. Commuters demanded that the concerned authorities should take strict action against the violator for overcharging during the last week of Eidul Azha.
A manager at Bus Stand said, it is their duty to facilitate each and every passenger. He declined that passengers were being overcharged, but admitted that in order to accommodate rush they arrange additional seating in the buses especially on the eve of such occasions.
