Annex-D in return form: expenditure details made optional: FBR
The Federal Board of Revenue has made it optional for the taxpayers to submit expenditures on education of children/spouse/self and foreign/local travelling under the Annex-D (Details of Personal Expenses for Individual) of the income tax return form for Tax Year 2011.
Sources told Business Recorder here on Thursday that the FBR has decided to further amend the Annex-D of the income tax return form for Tax Year 2011. Under the new amendment, columns 5 and 6 of the Annex-D have been made optional for the taxpayers. The column 5 is related to the education of children/spouse/self and column 6 relates to travelling (foreign and local). However, the taxpayers could submit this information in the other personal and household expenses (column 9 of Annex-D of the return form.
Under the proposed amendment in the return form, expenditures on education of children/ spouse/self and foreign/local travelling could be made part of the other personal and household expenses. However, it would be optional for the taxpayers to submit information about the expenditures on education of children/spouse/self and foreign/local travelling in the income tax return. There is no compulsion on the taxpayers to submit the information of the columns 5 and 6 of the Annex-D of the return form.
The decision has been taken to collect only necessary information on personal expenditure of the individuals. Earlier, the FBR had allowed the business persons/directors of companies, members of the Association of Persons (AOPs) and salaried persons not to give break-up of other personal and household expenses. The taxpayers will provide a lump sum figure as "personal and household expense" at serial number-9 of Annex-D of the income tax return form for Tax Year 2011. The FBR had abolished the additional information about the other personal and household expenses.
After this new development, sources said that now the taxpayers would only provide details of personal expenditure of residence electricity bills, residence telephone/mobile/internet bills, residence gas bills, residence rent/ground rent/property tax/fire insurance/security services/water bills, motor vehicle in use (whether owned or not) running and maintenance including lease rentals and insurance, club membership fees/bills, total personal expenses and number of family members/dependents.
