Chicken meat prices have decreased by Rs 30 per kilogram from Rs 165 to Rs 135 in the metropolitan city, as the farmers are clearing their poultry stock before Eid-ul-Azha. Chicken meat retailers told Business Recorder that there would be very low demand of chicken meat after Eid-ul-Azha for a month, as the people would have stored the Eid mutton/beef, therefore the farmers want to clear their ripe stock before Eid.
However prices of vegetables and fruits have inflated by around 30 to 40 percent before Eid ul Azha in the vegetable markets. In the Sunday Bazaars, onion and garlic price increased by Rs 20 per KG, and Tomatoes prices hiked from Rs 40 per KG to Rs 65 per KG. Consumers apprehended that shopkeepers and vendors would further increased the prices of vegetables like onion, tomatoes, potatoes, garlic, ginger, spinach and carrot, as there would be no Sundays bazaars on coming Sunday.
