LB elections revival: Southern Punjab nazimeen to organise convention
Mian Faisal Mukhtar, former city district 'nazim' of the district has said that the nazimeen of southern Punjab would organise their convention to press the authorities for holding local bodies elections and revive grass-root democratic institutions.
He said that a delegation of nazimeen would join the protest rally of 'Pakistan Jeeve Jeeve Tehrik'. He said that Chairman of PJJT, Danial Aziz has announced to hold protest against the abolishment of local body system on November 3.
He said that they would organise conventions for the restoration of local body system, in which former nazims of all provinces would participate, adding that a grand rally would be held in Gujranwala for the purpose.
Mukhtar said that present democratic government has failed because unemployment as well as inflation was increasing day by day in the country. He also said that though government has made a promise to restore local body system but they didn't, which was the violation of Article 148 of the constitution. Rejecting the government's corruption allegations against former nazims, he said that if the government has proved it, then cases should register against them, adding that 'provincial governments have broken all records of corruption'.
