Sharifs learnt nothing from exile: Prime Minister

Published Updated

Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that Sharif brothers have learnt nothing from exile and imprisonment, a private TV channel quoted him as saying. Talking to Pakistanis at Perth, the Prime Minister levelled serious allegations against the leadership of Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) and said that they wanted to derail democracy, adding that PML-N has always staged a sit-in against a democratically-elected government.
However, they did not stage a sit-in when their government was removed in 1999 by a military dictator. According to him, no one can remove Pakistan People's Party-led government through rallies or other street protests. The prime minister further said that PPP's government would complete its tenure and the next general elections would be held in 2013.
