Husband booked in Dr Najia murder

The death of lady doctor Najia Hussain, which was earlier declared as suicide, has now stated as murder and the airport police have booked her husband Dr Ghulam Murtaza in the case. According to SHO Noor Mohammad Wasan, the case seemed to be suicide as her body was found shot dead in her maternity home situated at Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Colony, in the limits of Airport police station.
He said the initial reports suggested that the victim committed suicide with the licensed weapon over domestic issues. However, the heirs of Dr Najia insisted that it was murder. Therefore, the airport police with the assistance of other police recovered the body of Najia, which was being transported in the ambulance, from Bhit Shah.
He said the case 257/11 was registered against Dr Murtaza on the complaint of his brother-in-law Ali Mohammad. He said the accused Dr Murtaza escaped from the scene as he was travelling in his car. He said the victim and her husband run a maternity home in the same area where they resided and added that she got married a few months ago.
