Spain''s Infrastructure Ministry says a consortium that includes 12 Spanish companies has won a contract to build and maintain a high-speed rail link between the Saudi Arabian holy cities of Mecca and Medina. A ministry statement said Wednesday the contract worth ¤6.7 billion ($9.3 billion) was awarded to the Al Shoula Group. The group includes two Saudi companies.
It said the contract was the biggest one at an international level ever won by Spanish companies.
