Taiwan stocks ended 2.97 percent higher on Monday, joining regional peers in a bounce on hopes that Europe's leaders were making progress on its debt crisis, and as data from China helped allay fears of a hard landing. However computer maker Acer Inc fell 1.12 percent after reporting a worse-than-expected unaudited third-quarter loss on Friday.
The main TAIEX index ended 215.79 points higher at 7,470.30, a one-month closing high. Banks, textiles and oil and gas firms were among the top gainers. Foreign investors were net sellers of Taiwan stocks on Friday, capping their total buying at T$4.78 billion this month.
