Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information and Culture Mian Iftikhar Hussain on Saturday said the provincial government was taking steps to revive the skills of experienced and old skilled persons to make them up to standard of market demand and in this regard support of private sector and public-private partnership would be welcomed.
The minister expressed these views after attending the briefing on National Institute of Cultural Studies (NICS) Islamabad at Peshawar on Saturday. Secretary Information and Culture Azmat Hanif Aurakzai and Director Culture Pervaiz Khan were also present on the occasion.
The vice chancellor NICS while briefing the minister said that his institute was actively working for the promotion of arts and crafts in Pakistan especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and so far hundreds of women have been given market-oriented training in different local trades and arts.
The minister said that the provincial government was sincere in promotion of local art and culture and preservation of cultural heritage as for the purpose, a complete and full-fledged culture department had been established, while a MoU also signed with Bacha Khan Trust Educational Foundation.
