Polio cases in Balochistan: Magsi concerned over rampant prevalence

Member of PM's National Task Force Committee and Balochistan Minister Begum Shama Perveen Magsi expressed grave concern over the rampant increase in the cases of polio in Balochistan. She urged the parents to administer their children anti-polio vaccine to overcome the jeopardy of crippling disease.
Addressing a ceremony held with regard to the anti-polio campaign being launched from 24 October here at boys scouts, she said that all-out efforts were under way to make Balochistan a polio free province and warned stern action against those found negligent during the campaign.
Provincial health secretary Amatullah Khan Kakar, representative of Rotary Club Mohammad Iqbal Qureshi, head of Unicef in Balochistan Stefeano Savi and representatives of Red Crescent were also present on the occasion. The Balochistan Minister termed it a national responsibility to work against the menace of polio and asked the authorities concerned to take concrete measures for achieving the desired targets of the drive. "On the part of government, no stone was being left to ensure complete end of polio disease from Balochistan," she noted.
