Development projects in various cities discussed

Divisional Commissioner Tahir Hussain chaired a meeting to discuss various development projects and other relevant issues in connection with 'Punjab Large Cities Urban Sector Development' with the World Bank Pre Appraisal Mission.
The meeting was attended by World Bank Mission included Raja Rehan Arshid Lead Operation Officer, Ming Zhang, Sector Manager Shehnaz Arshid Development Specialist, Masroor Ahmad Water and Sanitation Specialists, Zhiyn Chen Urban Economist, Chaohua Zhang Social Development Specialists, Syeda Shabnam Najaf, Senior Urban Planner, Nadia Qureshi Urban Planner and many others.
The divisional commissioner informed the meeting that the Punjab government was taking steps for initiating the development projects in the five large cities of Punjab including Faisalabad with the co-operation of the World Bank. He directed the executing agencies of Faisalabad to evolve a comprehensive strategy regarding the required development in the various social sectors for the relief of the public and urban development.
He said that the design of the project including proposed actions prior to negotiations and imbursement linked indicators should be devised for the submission of proposals to the World Bank Mission through the Punjab government. The urban development specialist elaborated, during the meeting that the development authority the service delivery, performance improvement, capacity building and technical assistance would be provided under this programme for the implementation of projects. Among other DG FDA Chaudhry Muhammad Ashraf, EDO Finance Liaqat Chatha, MD PHA Ashiq Dogar, MD WASA Zahid Aziz, EDO MS Anwar Saeed Chaudhry, Chief Engineer FDA Rashid Majeed and other officers of city district government were also present in the meeting.
