The industry-academia link is necessary to boost up the trade and industry in the country, said Muzammil Sultan, President FCCI, at a seminar on "Entrepreneur-ship Day" at the University of Faisalabad. School of Management Studies of the varsity (TUF), Amin Campus had organised the seminar. Muzammil Sultan, President Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry was the chief guest at the inaugural session.
Muzammil Sultan in his address said that such useful events at the university level would definitely help the students to understand the importance of entrepreneur-ship. He stressed the need of innovation in production, keeping in view the consumers' trends and adopting modern marketing strategies to capture local as well as international markets. He emphasised the need of establishing industry-academia liaison to boost up the trade and Industry in the country. He assured the co-operation of FCCI in this context.
He visited the stalls and commended the efforts of the students. Professor Muhammad Ashfaq, Head, School of Management Studies in his address gave introduction of the event and briefed about its objectives. On the occasion, students from BBA discipline set up eight stalls.
These stalls included attractions (perfume house), food products (mix snacks), print plain (printed bed and bath accessories), fish house (aquariums, fish, sea creatures), bamboo cones (branded 'paan' stall), fruit buckets (mix buckets of fruit and cocktails), D Generation (jeans and casual wear) and BIKS (flavoured milk). These stalls were an exceptional showcase of the innovated products with new marketing strategies, all planned and managed by the students.
According to the judges, D Generation (Jeans and Casual wear) stall got first prize in this competition while Bamboo Cones (Branded Paan Stall) and Print Plain (Printed bed and bath accessories) remained second and third respectively. Professor Dr Abdul Karim Baloch, Pro Rector awarded souvenirs and certificates to position holders.
