Match-fixing scam: call for probing Imran's alleged involvement
Senior leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, Khawaja Muhammad Asif has said that the disclosure of Pakistani cricketer Salman Butt during cricket corruption case proceedings before British Queen Jury that in the bargaining of gambling amount with Mazhar Majeed, he was in touch with the Chief of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, has made the nation ashamed.
The PML leader demanded that after the admission of crime by Imran Khan himself and disclosure of cricketer Salman Butt, a complete investigation should be conducted against Imran for promoting the trend of gambling in Pakistani cricket. He should be given punishment as per law so that this menace could be eliminated from Pakistani cricket once and for all. It may be mentioned that nowadays the proceedings of case of match fixing against Pakistani cricketers is continuing in British Queen Jury.
This accusation came to light when a newspaper of London 'News of the World' released a videotape of a person namely Mazhar Majeed in which he has admitted the match fixing and payment of heavy amounts to Pakistani cricketers. During the proceedings on Wednesday, when Salman Butt was asked whom he was talking on telephone when cricketer Wahab Riaz was wearing a jacket given by Mazhar Majeed which carried thousands of pounds, Salman Butt replied that he was consulting with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief.
