Over 24 suspects arrested

Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) on Thursday claimed to have nabbed over two-dozen suspects in separate raids at various parts of the metropolis. According to sources, the LEAs during search operation at Dalmia area detained 20 suspects and recovered arms and drugs from their possession.
They said several persons, who were taken into custody during house-to-house search, were released while some 20 suspects were shifted to unknown place for formal interrogation. Meanwhile, the Crime Investigation Department (CID) of Sindh police arrested three political activists including Muhammad Rauf Batini, alias Khumari, Imran Khan Afridi, Muhammad Nafees and recovered three TT pistols and drugs from them. These accused persons, who were allegedly involved in collecting extortion from industrial area, confessed during initial investigation that they had committed 24 robberies in several areas.
Sharah-e-Faisal police also claimed to have arrested three activists of one of the religious organisations namely Mazhar Piru, Nadeem, Naeem alias Kala Pathan, Imran Juicer. Police claimed that these persons were extortionists and involved in various other criminal activities. Similarly SITE area police on a tipoff recovered weapons from an empty plot located in SITE area.
