A division bench of the Lahore High Court on Thursday extended stay order on LPG (production and distribution) Policy 2011 till November 22 and directed the office to fix all identical petitions before one bench. Different LPG companies through Aitzaz Ahsan and Shahid Hamid and others have challenged the policy in LHC. They contended that under the policy it was made mandatory for LPG companies to purchase 20 per cent supplies from LPG importers and brokers.
He said 87 LGP companies had made huge investment of one billion dollar in the market but government with malafide intention had allowed marketing licenses to public sector LPG companies. He said petroleum development levy has also been imposed on local LPG production. He said government's move is causing acute problems to LPG companies to run their business and their huge investment would be in jeopardy.
