Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Chief Maulana Fazl-Ur-Rahman has warned that the US was attempting to create instability in Balochistan province in a bid to destabilise the region. "The US is hatching conspiracies to create a Waziristan-like situation in Balochistan," Fazl said on Sunday.
He reiterated that the US was seeking to use an armed network to destabilise Pakistan. The US intends to use the Quetta Council as its next instrument for creating instability in the Balochistan province, he added.
Fazl viewed the strategic partnership between Pakistan and the US as harmful to Islamabad saying that the government should review its foreign policy.
Former chief of Jamaat-e-Islami Qazi Hussain Ahmad said: "This is not a war on terrorism, but it is a war waged by the US and its allies such as France, India, Israel and Britain against Pakistan and its nuclear programme."
