National Highways and Motorway Police (NH&MP) recovered three stolen/snatched cars and one truck and arrested one car lifter last week. Spokesperson of NH&MP Javed Chaudhry said that these cars and truck were stolen/snatched from different parts of country.
He said that Motorway Police was informed by mobile workshop that a white colour Corolla car No ID-756 was break down on motorway, In the meantime another Corolla car No IDT-7984 reached at the spot and when the culprits saw the mobile workshop they run away. On this information the Motorway Police got alerted all its patrolling officers. After few minutes the NH&MP officers saw the said car, they signalled to stop, but the driver of the car instead of stopping, tried to run away.
However, on chasing by Motorway Police officers, they succeeded to stop the said car through commando action and arrested one car lifter namely Habib Ullah r/o Malakand. Javed said that in another incident, Motorway Police officers PO Ayaz Awan and PO Adnan Shah were on their routine patrolling duty in the area of Hyderabad, the NH&MP officers saw a car No AQS-031 which was parked on the hard shoulder and no one was present there. The NH&MP officers took the car in their custody. Later on, it revealed that the said car was snatched on gunpoint from Stephan from jurisdiction of Quaidabad police station, Karachi.
In 3rd incident, Motorway Police officers PO Shakeel Khan and PO Abdul Rehman Barohi were on their routine patrolling duty in the area of Hyderabad, the NH&MP officers saw a truck No QA-7903 which was parked on hard shoulder and six culprits were busy in looting goods. When the culprits saw motorway police officers they started firing on NH&MP officers. The cross firing between car lifters and NH&MP officers remained for some time, in the meantime the culprit succeeded to run from the scene by taking the advantage of firing and darkness.
However, the stolen truck was recovered. On search of the truck the original number plate, miscellaneous items and cash of Rs 25,000 were found. The Motorway Police also informed the concerned local police about all these incidents and later on, the Motorway Police handed over the arrested car lifter along with the recovered vehicles in the presence of the owners to the concerned police for further legal action.
