A total of 107 members of Punjab Assembly from the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) and 23 from the Pakistan Muslim League (Q) on Tuesday moved a joint privilege motion against Dr Tahir Ali Javed MPA for his statement regarding dissolution of Punjab Assembly.
The motion was handed over to Secretary Punjab Assembly Maqsood Ahmad Malik at assembly secretariat. The Speaker, if found it in order strictly in accordance with rules 68 to 79 of the procedure of Punjab Assembly, will take up the motion during the forthcoming session during the privilege motion hours. Constitutional expert Pervez A. Mir said that a member may, with the consent of the Speaker, raise a question involving a breach of privilege either of a member or of the assembly or of a committee.
He said according to sub section 2 of rule 69, if question based on a document is raised, the notice shall be accompanied by the document and according to sub section 3 of above rule, the Speaker may, is satisfied about the urgency of the matter, allow a question of privilege to be raised at any time during the course of a sitting after the disposal of questions, he added.
