Move to increase power tariff criticised

Published Updated

Chairman Law and Order Standing Committee of Korangi Association of Trader and Industry (KATI), Nadim Khan, criticised proposed move to increase power tariff by 4 percent and said when the government does not have electricity why is it allowing increase in power tariff frequently.
He said that the industrial sector under extreme pressure and the frequent raises in power and gas tariffs have almost broken the backbone of the industries. He called upon the government to reduce gas and power tariffs so that industry's wheel may keep rolling. He welcomed State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) decision to reduce interest rate by 150 basis points to 12 percent for two months.
