Atif Meo Central Convenor of Pakistan Water and Power Action Committee has said that they would 'siege' Wapda House if load shedding is restarted after October 15, 2011. Atif Meo Central Convener of the Action Committee stated this while leading a rally on Sunday.
He said that load shedding has destroyed economy of the country and has resulted in excuse of establishing rental power stations, making pockets heavier for the corrupt mafia.
He said capacity of rental power stations is less than 20 percent while in a certain rental power station cost of producing rental power has gone to the limit of Rs 42 per unit. This is nonsense and highest level of looting, he pointed.
He said that corrupt policies of money minters have resulted in electricity rates to the level of Rs 14 per unit. Meo said higher rates of electricity have made national economy uncompetitive and people mentally perturbed.
He said higher rates of electricity have put the 180 population of Pakistan into total financial mess while mafia that has created electricity shortages is going ahead with its corrupt practices and filling pockets.
He said time has come that immediate action should be taken to produce hydel electricity in the country pointing that Thar Coal project to produce electricity must be immediately taken up.
Meo warned that if situation was not changed immediately their would launch country-wide protest. A large number of people were present in the rally.
