Gohar for setting up of provincial energy infrastructure board

Gohar Ejaz, the immediate past central Chairman, said setting up of energy infrastructure board at provincial level is an urgent need of the hour. Gohar said the government should immediately announced infrastructure plan on energy up to 2030. Speaking at the departure of 20 trucks of relief goods to flood affected in Sindh, Gohar told the Governor Punjab Sardar Latif Khan Khosa that Punjab was suffering from energy crisis the most and there was an urgent need of planning to progress.
While stressing the power generation through natural resources, he lamented that 60 percent power generation in Pakistan was through furnace oil against the world where only one percent generation is furnace oil based. Further, he said the electricity was costing 5 cent both in India and China against 20 cent in Pakistan, making textile industry incompatible in the region.
He said 80 percent textile industry is situated in Punjab generating 3000MW through Captive Power Plants. Suggesting the solution, Gohar said LNG has to be brought in system immediately, as some 1500MMCFD gas shortage is expected in winter that would close down all CPPs of industry. He urged the Governor Punjab to take up textile industry's energy issue through his office.
