The Karachi Port handled 94,298 tonnes of cargo comprising 72,549 tonnes of import cargo and 21,749 tonnes of export cargo including 4,549 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 72,549 tonnes comprised of 29,503 tonnes of containerised cargo; 14,263 tonne of general cargo; 23,783 tonnes of bulk cargo: 8,116 tonnes of DAP; 14,200 tonnes of coal; 1,467 tonnes of MAP and 5,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 21,749 tonnes comprised of 18,486 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,733 tonnes of general cargo and 1,530 tonnes of cement. Six ships namely Glen Canyon Bridge, MOL Sparkle, OEL Trust, Asian Grace, Purbasari and Amazing with three container ships, one general cargo ship, an oil tankers and a bulk cargo ship respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Seven vessels viz Hyundai Discovery, CS Discovery, Al-Ihsaa, APL Brisbane, Expander, MPP Shield and Lodestar Genesis carrying four container ships, two general cargo ships and one bulk cargo ship respectively are currently at the berths. Four ships namely Expander, MPP Shield, Al-Ihsaa and STX Symphony carrying two general cargo ships, one container ship and one DAP carrier respectively expected to sail on Tuesday, while three ships namely Hyundai Discovery, CS Discovery and Lodestar Genesis carrying two container ships and an oil tanker respectively are expected to sail on Wednesday.
Three vessels viz Bravo, President Truman and Dandle carrying three container ships due to arrive on Tuesday, while four vessels viz Santa Belina, Oriental Marguerite, Enrico Ievoli and Fade-1 carrying one container ship, two ethanol carriers and one wheat carrier respectively are due to arrive on Wednesday.
A chemical carrier namely MT Kasugta sailed out to sea on Tuesday. A total number of ten vessels viz CV Al-Ihsaa, MV Vina Line Sky, MV Hiba Al Nour-B, MV Alexi-I, MT Bunga Kantan Tiga, MV Kaya Pioneer, MV Kind Seas, MT Kasugta, MT Acena and MT Christopigi Lady are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, corn, phosphoric acid, iron ore, coal and diesel oil respectively during last 24 hours.
Eleven ships namely Al-Soor-II, Serengeti, Al-Salam-II, Mesaieed, Remi, Maersk Kalamati, Green Park, SC Liaoning, Sky Dream, Opal-II and Safina-2 with three diesel oil tankers, two furnace oil tankers, a container ship, a phosphoric acid carrier, two palm oil tankers, a cement carrier and one rice ship respectively are currently at the outer anchorage.
A total number of three vessels viz CV Maersk Kalamati, MV Safina-2 and MT Green Park carrying containers, rice and chemicals respectively are expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Grain & Fertiliser Terminal (FAP) and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Tuesday, while two container vessels viz CV Al-Mutanabi and CV MSC Anafi are due to arrive on the same day. As many as five container ships namely CV Lady Bug, CV CMA CGM Rossini, CV Saigon Express, CV ACX Marguerite and CV Nicoline Maersk are also due to arrive at Port Qasim.
