Notices to NAB, BoP in scam case issued

Supreme Court on Monday issued notices to National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and Bank of Punjab (BoP) over a bail application of Sheikh Afzal - one of the defaulter of BoP in the rupees nine billion loan scam. A three-member bench headed by Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jilani was hearing the bail application, filed by Sheikh Muhammad Afzal who made NAB and others respondent.
During the course of hearing, counsel of Sheikh Afzal, Ahmad Awais pleaded that Sheikh Afzal had deposited Rs 3.67 billions, returned 600 grams gold, 600carat diamond, 105 mortgaged properties and 117 assets to the bank but still he is behind the bar since two years. After hearing the arguments, the bench issued notices to respondents and adjourned the hearing for one week.
