Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif visited on Sunday the home of a rape victim and assured the family that the culprits responsible for the crime would be punished. He said that he wished that the main culprit in the case had not been granted bail by the court.
Speaking to media, the Chief Minister said that a committee had been set up to investigate the issue. He said that justice would be brought to the raped student.
He stated that the main culprit is on bail until October 4. Shahbaz said that the girl wants to study further and the government will be responsible for all of her educational expenses.
According to reports, the 16-year-old girl, a first-year student at a local college, was gang-raped in the Shahkot area of Punjab. The police had arrested four alleged criminals involved in the act, while the key culprit is on bail until October 4.
