The Karachi Port handled 129,339 tonnes of cargo comprising 102,938 tonnes of import cargo and 26,401 tonnes of export cargo including 4,701 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Saturday. The total import cargo of 102,938 tonnes comprised of 42,349 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,881 tonne of general cargo; 25,708 tonnes of bulk cargo: 2,344 tonnes of DAP; 1,044 tonnes of wheat; 18,000 tonnes of coal and 32,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 26,401 tonnes comprised of 24,898 tonnes of containerised cargo; 290 tonnes of general cargo and 1,213 tonnes of cement. Six ships namely Lt Trieste, Emirates Kanako, Eagle Stealth, Oriental Protea, BBC Rhine and Sea Emerald with two container ships, two oil tankers, one general cargo ship and one bulk cargo ship respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Seven vessels viz YM Eternity, Sagamore, APL Sharjah, MT Quetta, SCF Pioneer, SB Royal and Alliance St. Louis carrying three container ships, two oil tankers, one bulk cargo ship and one vehicles carrier respectively are currently at the berths.
Four ships namely Sagamore, YM Fuzhou, Freedom and Blue Sand carrying two container ships, one general cargo ship and one coal carrier respectively expected to sail on Saturday, while six ships namely MT Quetta, SCF Pioneer, Cora, YM Eternity, Nizar-M and Alamayn carrying three oil tankers, one container ship, one wheat carrier and one DAP carrier respectively are expected to sail on Sunday.
Five vessels viz S Stealth, MOL Sparkle, Asian Grace, Tarpon Clipper and MPP Schield carrying a crude oil tanker, one container ship, a steel carrier, one general cargo ship and a package respectively due to arrive on Saturday, while five vessels viz Vira Bhum. Glen Canyon Bridge, APL Brisbane, OEL Trust and Saudi Tabuk carrying four container ships and a vehicles carrier respectively are due to arrive on Sunday.
A total number of eleven vessels viz CV MSC Sena, CV New Delhi Express, MV Alexi-I, MV Vina Line Sky, MV Hiba Al Nour-B, MV Orient-III, MT Lahore, MT Grace, MV Kind Seas, MV Kaya Pioneer and MT Enrico Evoli are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, furnace oil, palm oil, iron ore, corn and chemicals respectively during last 24 hours.
Seven ships namely Christopigi Lady, Al-Soor-II, Serengeti, Mesaieed, Remi, Acena and Bunga Kantan Tiga with three diesel oil tankers, two furnace oil tankers, one iron ore carrier and a palm oil tanker respectively are currently at the outer anchorage.
