Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer went over 1,000-minutes without conceding a goal during Saturday's goalless draw at Hoffenheim as the Bavarian's had their 10-match winning streak ended. Bayern's 2-0 win over Manchester City in the Champions League on Tuesday had been their 10th consecutive victory and although the run was broken at Hoffenhein, Munich's last defeat in any competition was still back on August 7.
Germany star Neuer, who joined from Schalke 04 last summer, has now gone 1018 minutes without conceding a goal in all competitions. The 25-year-old had to work to keep his record intact as he pulled off a stunning save from defender Marvin Compper on 22 minutes.
Neuer still has to keep several cleansheets to claim a record. Belgian Dany Verlinden holds the European record of 1,390 minutes for Brugge, a mark which Manchester United's Edwin van der Saar came close to breaking when he went 1,311 minutes without conceding a goal in the 2008-09 season.
