Yassar Sakhi Butt assumed charge as President while Asad Farid and Shahid Zaman Shinwari as Vice Presidents of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) in a handing-over ceremony held at the chamber's house. After assuming the charge, Yassar Butt thanked the members for electing him and assured that he would try to solve the problems being faced by the business community.
He said that Pakistan is facing huge economic challenges because of multiple factors like energy outage, rising inflation and continuously deteriorating law and order situation. Government should provide favourable and conducive business environment along-with true implementation of the announced policies, he added.
He urged the government to build the confidence of businessmen by ensuring supply of basic ingredients that were required to pull the wheel of economy and acceleration of trade and investment in the country. Government must evolve concrete solutions through continued dialogue process with the participation of public and private sector representatives for sustainable development in the country, he opined.
Asad Farid said that that the main objective of the ICCI is promotion of trade and industry and all available resources would be utilised for economic turnaround as the economic meltdown has now started taking its toll and everybody is suffering badly. He said that market visits and a consistent liaison with the fellow businessmen would be the cornerstone of the working of the newly elected office-bearers of ICCI. Shahid Zaman Shinwari said that ICCI has always served the cause of small traders and highlighted their issues at all the relevant forums, which shows that ICCI is a true representative of all traders. He assured them that ICCI would keep highlighting business community's issues with concerned authorities for urgent remedial measures to resolve these.-PR
