The newly elected president of Sarhad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI) Afan Aziz has said that all resources would be utilised for resolution of problems confronting business community in the province. Addressing the SCCI general body meeting while taking charge as president here on Saturday, he said that promotion of industrialisation, strengthening the role of commercial banks for economic recovery, and provision of employment opportunities are their top priorities.
Head of Businessmen Forum Senator Ilayas Ahmad Bilour, chairman of All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (Aptma), and prominent industrialist Mohsin Aziz, SCCI outgoing president Usman Bashir Bilour, newly elected vice presidents Zia ul Haq Sarhadi and Abid Salam, and outgoing executive committee members were present.
"Our motive is to extend service to business community, and we will do it," said SCCI president. He said that they would take some difficult steps for revival of economic situation of the province. He maintained that the SCCI will establish close liaison with provincial and federal governments along with relevant institutions of commerce and trade in this regard.
Afan said that all efforts would be carried out to take further extension in prime ministers relief package along with generation of employment opportunities in the province. He said the establishment of big industrial units, restoration of sick units, and stoppage of housing schemes in industrial estate would be at top agenda.
He said the role of commercial banks would be strengthened by convincing them for investment in the province. He said that he has accepted SCCI presidentship as challenge for development of commerce and industry in the province. The SCCI president said that they would work as a team to cope with prevailing financial obstacles and constraints confronting the business community. He reiterated that SCCI will extend service beyond any discrimination to traders and industrialists and assured that all possible resources would be utilised for betterment and welfare of business community. Ilyas Bilour, and Usman Bashir Bilour also expressed hope that the newly elected body would serve all energy for development of business community in the province.
