The most-active December copper contract on the Shanghai Futures Exchange edged up 0.2 percent to close at 55,170 yuan ($8,621.39) per tonne on Wednesday, after ending the previous session 3.2 percent higher. CIFCO Futures analyst Zhou Jie said short position holders were locking in profits ahead of the upcoming week-long holiday in China.
