Only 85 of 540 Railways locomotives operational

Pakistan Railways is continuing its downward trend, as out of Pakistan Railways fleet of 540 locomotives only 85 are operational and running a few remaining up and down the country, official sources told Business Recorder here on Wednesday. They said so far Pakistan Railways administration has put 115 trains off the track due to acute shortage of locomotive engines.
Sources told this scribe that Pakistan Railways had also abandoned the air-conditioned couches in the country and now-a-days no A.C. couch is operational in the railway passenger fleet. Out of 68 power couches only 23 were operational which were not meeting needs of the passengers.
